Before we begin optimising your website, we first need to analyse all elements of the site to determine the changes we need to make. We can then present these suggested changes to you for approval before we make any alterations.
Some of the changes we suggest can be quite technical, but we will always do our best to fully explain our reasoning behind each proposed change - demonstrating in plain English the benefits of each amendment.
We begin with a technical SEO analysis, before moving on to the SEO content analysis.
Technical SEO Analysis
We begin by checking how easy it is for search engines and real life users to navigate your website. We have a checklist of over 100 different elements that we look at to ensure they are implemented correctly, covering things like:
- Correct use of code
- Internal linking structure
- Compliance to web industry standards (W3C)
- Appropriate use of 301 redirects
- Outbound links
- Use of images and embedded objects
We will present our recommendations to you and explain each one in detail to ensure you understand the changes we are proposing to make to your website before any alterations are completed.
Depending on whether or not you have a Content Management System (CMS), and the level of access this allows us to your website, some of the changes we suggest during this stage may require the help of a website developer to implement. We can work with your website developer to work out a cost/benefit analysis for all developer-related changes, and if you are happy with the outcome of this we will work with the developer to complete any necessary changes.
SEO Content Analysis & Changes
Following the technical analysis, we then begin on one of the most important steps of the SEO project - the content analysis. Not only will we look at the content in the body of each of your landing pages, we will also look at SEO elements such as title tags or meta titles, meta descriptions, headings and heading tags, image alternate text (alt text), and text used in hyperlinks (anchor text).
We will provide you with a document in which we mark-up our suggested changes to this content. Our suggested changes will work to optimise the text of each page to increase the page's relevance to your target market and the keyword phrases they use in search. This will work to improve your rankings for these keyword terms.
However, this is not the sole purpose of the exercise, and we will never compromise the quality of the text in order to squeeze in keywords unnaturally. Our SEO content analysis has a dual purpose. We also want to ensure your text is as useful as possible for potential customers who visit your website, making it simple for them to find out about your products and services and ultimately make a purchase or contact you.
Once you have approved these suggestions we will then complete the changes via your CMS.
